The story of 1 rainbow shark and a tank

wow, you defenitely have some style. Nice swords too... (get it?) Oh wow that's a really stupid joke. Anyway, great tank!

I think tank works out to be 180 gallons.

The CO2 kit im using is a dupla regulator, a 6kg CO2 tank from BOC GAS (FOOD TYPE) and a CO2 Reactor im using a aqua medic reactor 1000.

CO2 kits r easy to make the most expensive part is the regulator and you have to use silicon hose from the tank to the reactor cant use rubber as co2 eats it.

I got mine through the LFS because i get it cheap. But tank was like $36 to hire and $9 a month should last about 4-6 months before a refill. The a good co2 reactor is worth buying. The more flow through the reactor the better as the co2 is absorbed in the water better. Thats where i think my prob is at the moment not enough flow :(. Im tempted to run it on its own circuit and not through the filter.

The co2 on my old 4ft tank made a huge difference but cant get it to make the same on this tank. I struggled with shocking algae for the first 3 months now the algaes down i dont want to over fertilize for it to happen again but not enough fertilizer wont help co2 much. Lighting is also very important. If the lighting isnt enough co2 wont help. Im running at .

Im glad that most people like the tank rebuild and in person getting rid of the moss was required it as it got stuck in both filter pickups everyday it also look very stagley on the photos it looked good but it was just out of control. i put 3 handfulls in 2 months ago and pulled 3 bucket loads out. And the hollow log on the left is still there :) Its just got a ton of plants in front of it and another pice of wood ontop to make it look more natural. If you think the fish liked the tank before you should dee them now. With all the plants at the front the cory's are back out same as the plects.

very nice setup, that tank will look even awsomer when the plants grow in,

is that another rainbow shark in the 3rd last pic?

There is only one rainbow shark in this tank at moment the other is in the hosptal tank.

Alot of people say dont put more than one in a tank i had 2 with plenty of wood and plants and other than a chase from its teritory they were fine.

I agreee when the new plants grow in and the old ones re-root after moving it will look even better

Nice tank, no offence but i like the old one better, that round log to the left rocks, thats my opinion, good work it seems as though you really put your back into it.
Yeah i liked that log too. Is it still in there bcuz i cant see it

Ok once again the log is still there

I got out my chissel and hammer and roughed the end up a bit because i didnt like the clean cut chainsaw look. I also planted all around it and placed another piece of wood ontop of it to make it look a bit more like a cave. Looks much better in person than on a photo.

It look great, but I would put some moss back on that wood, it looks sweet. B)

Nice layout, but you went a little overboard on the driftwood. The tank is far too crowded with large, dark features and not enough bright small-leaved stem plants like hygrophilia. Either way, it looks good both times around. I'm sure with some time for the plants to grow in on the new configuration it should look ten times better than it does now.

Well that is the same price i got from BOC up here, does your regulator have a bubble counter and a elecrtic solenoid? i guess it would. Im looking for something like this Regulator. but its american and the volts are different and i seeing what other people with same size tanks have before i buy.

yeah looks like a really good regulator. Mine alot more basic then that. i like the idea of the bubble counter on the regulator. So adjust my CO2 i watht the bubbles in my CO2 reactor. If you can get it at a goor price go for it

You can just by a regulator. as i said i buble counter is nice but you can do that just with your reactor and a solenoid is posh if you are going to use it otherswise i wouldnt pay the extra

So do you just turn the co2 off at the bottle at night or u dont turn it off at all?
Im going hunting again tomorrow for a regulator, and if i cant get one ill just by that one and get the transfer volt thing so it will be able to work here.
Can u show me a picture of your system would love to see it.

As soon as i have a sec ill take a picture of my system.
I never turn the CO2 of at night as that would very the Ph. I leave it runnung 24/7

thats what i will be doing aswell, i always ask the question why they turn it off at night, the ph will just increase , even though it save co2 but leaving it on will save fish lol espically if you have discus in it.
