Ok i have read many different descriptions on spawn tanks but im going to share mine!
(this is not my tank, my tank has currently been converted into a nursing tank)
I am pointing out what item is in the spawn tank and why!
Before you even add anything to the spawn tank make sure it is half full
Baby bettas need to take a deep breath from the surface... if theyre to do this and the water surface is high up the air will be cool and shock the organs... killing the fry!
1.A essential item.. the heater should be set too 82-84 degrees
2.Floating plants provide shelter for free swimming fry..
i like to use 1-2 silk plants for the female too hid in too!
3.cut a polystyrene cup in half this is supposed to attracted the male betta to nest under it!
i prefer too use an indian almond leave...
4.sponge filters are great they filter the tank and also fry safe
5.the glass chimney is for the female too sit inside so the male cannot attack her...
other options are fry traps although risky on removing the female as water movement may break the nest...
i use a 2 litre pop bottle and cut the top and bottom off MAKE SURE ITS STRAIGHT or bettas can hurt themselves on it!
6.Thermometers are essential so you can moniter the water temp!
Anything needed adding or taking PM me and ill edit this!
