Does anybody keep a tank with no plants just rocks?

The reason I ask is I have just put in 10 live plants & to be honest they look great but the fish are just constantly eating them which results in pieces floating around the tank, some even uproot them because they tug at them so much.

So was thinking of rocks only. Would have them built up high with plenty of hidding places & cover.

Thought anyone?

Ps - Sorry about the that big mick

depends what type of fish you have!

id say if you have normal community fish then your buying the wrong plants.

i have bout a couple of bunches of this plant with redish leaves only to have them eaten but none of the others hav been touched.

if you have cichlids then there known for eating plants so a mainly rock tank is neccesary.

Most cichlids eat up plants so you will probably use only rocks with them. Some exceptions are angelfish, they lay their eggs on amazon swords and any flat surface. They don't eat plants, it really depends on what fish you have.

Sure I do, I can't abide live plants, unless they're the cheap and cheerful 'bung em in yer tank and they'll live anyway' sort. This one is my favourite, just uses volcanic rock (some of which I 'borrowed' from Mt. Vesuvius :D), a flowerpot and some fake ferny things.

Here is my lobster tank, there are no plants in here and Ive tried to create a mock marine look with the lava rock.
