Ok so what do folk do when they have numbers of fish decline that they do not wish to restock/repopulate to a happy shoal number?

I have one rather large rosy barb, 3 pepper corys, two pearl danios and I think that's it on my odds.

They swim around with all the other fish, none are in hiding. It's just to put these fish up to a shoal size would overpopulate my already heavy stocked tank. BUT the tank is well looked after, and of a decent size that I'm not mean on rehoming as you never know what type of environment they could be added to.

Is that just nuts?

Your fish should be in schools of six plus, thats a given. It is possible considering tank size and number of water changes that you could add more fish to the stock although.Maybe you could rehome them to a fish club in your area? if you have one of course.

Never heard of a fish club over here - if any know of them in Cornwall UK let me know.

I now they do nc, I do 50% water changes each week as I use micros and macros so tank maintenance is paramount. It is also heavily filtered.

Really, thought there was alot of fish clubs in the Uk?Well, sounds like your really good with maintenance, well it really depends on the rest of the stock then and if its worth anything, I suppose the cories would be fine in a trio.

I find them a good home, preferably with someone that I know well… somehow, most of my friends end up with fishtanks at some point!

Nobody I know has tanks :( in fact they all think I'm mad for having three :(

I am on a few local sites on Facebook but as seen in other posts, those members don't necessarily have a great fish knowledge or care - just want to stock their tank with whatever inexpensive/free tgh fish they can.

My thinking was if they feed happy and swim around the tank without hiding as safety in numbers, then why risk a rehome to a shoal if the new owner doesn't keep up with tank maintenance?

Are you able to purchase another tank? ;o

I think the most appropriate thing is to name them "Uncus" and move forward.

Keep looking after them, but if you aren't going to be keeping that species again, either rehome the single to someone who has that specie, or let them live out their life in your retirement community.

Whereabouts are you Shelster?  Maybe you could ask on these forums if anybody would like to increase their existing shoals of those fish.  Start a thread titled "pepper cories available, Yorkshire" or wherever you are, and make it clear they need friends :)
