Okay, so I went to a LPS that has quite a few locations in my area. They are only located here in Maine, but they have a big chain going. Anways, I strolled over to the fish section and picked up the Hydrometer for my new Nano reef, and then decided to check out the fish. So I enter the huge fish section they have and I look over into the agressive fish section.
Alright, so before I tell you what I saw, I should say this place has had a bad reputation with fish for me. They dont take care of their fish very much and it drives me crazy. After today, this was the LAST straw.
So I look over at the agressive section and I saw a massive grayish thing in the tank. So I took a look. Mind you that these tanks are about 30" long and 15" wide. I look and I couldnt beleive it. They had a South American Lungfish in one of these poorly cared for tanks! And another one right next to it!  :-( These things were almost as big as their tanks and the people there were feeding them really unhealthy looking feeder goldfish. So at this point I was in rage and looked around for the manager. He wasnt there.
So now, Im going back to the store tommarow and ask him if he plans on keeping those for long... :-(

At a LFS I go to they have a 14 inch pacu that is beautiful! It is black/grey with blue/green markings near it's face. Kind of similar to a JD's markings. It was really neat! The only problem was he was kept in like a 20 inch tank. :/ Poor think could barely turn around.

That's not funny at all.
An animals life is a wonderful thing and it shouldn't be ruined just because someone has nothing better to do.

yeah my LFS has 2 oscars and a Pacu in a 4 ft tank but there were people in there to buy it already. They also had a 10 inch JD and it was cool

The best LFS has a 4-5 ft tank (can't remember which) with a 14inch birchir, and some other fish about 10 inches long. Probably all the huge ones they have taken back :dunno: But the tank is spotless and the fish are v. healthy.
