Hello,

I have a female dwarf gourami who, since the male dwarf gourami died, has been chasing another fish of mine (not a dwarf gourami, I think she's confused). To stop her chasing this other fish, I am thinking of getting her a mate once more. My question is, is it likely my silver female dwarf gourami will recognise a chocolate gourami as a fellow small gourami and pair up with him, or are they completely different species and unlikely be any company for one another?

They are completely different species, and there will be more likely rivalry between them over territory. What is the kind of fish she is currently chasing?

Have you had the ram for a long time? Or did you introduce it after the male dwarf died? In the latter case, it might just be that she is trying to make sure she is the boss in the tank. How big is your tank by the way?

If the tank is big enough, and there are enough hiding spots, it should be a temporary problem. Once they have established the hierarchy, everything should be fine again.

The tank is 20 gallons. Not a very big tank I know, but there are plenty of hiding places, and you are right Biulu, since uploading my original post, she has stopped chasing him and now ignores him, thanks for your help!
