Come share your stories about the funny things your bettas have done! Things that just made you crack up or simply put a smile on your face.

Just a few mins ago.. I looked over at my 10gal tank b/c my little (used to be) runt caught my eye.
Well she was kinda hovering in one spot when the pink one (might as well name her Pinky lol)... came swimming by. Well apparently Trix (the runt) didn't like that one bit and slowly went at her with an opened mouth. No nipping, just that threatening "MOVE IT" thing they do.
Well after successfully moving Pinky along, here comes my big blue dominant girl swimming right up under Trix. Trix stays hovered there for a min, but I can see her staring down at my blue girl. I could totally read her mind at that moment.. "Should I? Shouldn't I?... Ah what the hell!" and she suddenly (but gently  ) bumped into big blue's back and startled her away.
I could only chuckle & smile b/c they do NOT mess with my blue girl unless it's by accident.
Trix had her moment though and she looked darn proud of herself afterwards heh.

It has to be when i wake up in the morning and look up at my girls tank through blury eyes to see them all lookin at me waiting for breakfast, cute but kinda scarey too lol. They always manage to put a smile on my face

I had some Tetra Delicia Bloodworms in jelly which come in a little sachet which you squeeze into the water. I was squeezing but nothing was happening, then suddenly the whole lot spurted out into Archimedes' bowl (far too much for a betta)

Archimedes got to it before me and managed to get the whole lot in his mouth. His mouth was stretched grotesquely with all these bloodworms sticking out as he tried to eat them (was pretty gross). Every know and then a couple would escape from his mouth and (if he was quicker than me) he would go and try and gobble them again despite having a very full mouth already. Took him some time but he managed to eat them. About 5 minutes later he threw the whole lot up again.
(I removed them, did a water change. there were no ill effects)

Lol oooh party triks in fish...
mine has too be little lucy.... we had trouble with her when we got her we managed to save her.... ever since she swims funny and sleeps on her castle at night!

I had a group of females in a 10 gallon together, and I put in a couple of the clear plastic betta cups so they could hide from the current. One day I saw some weird movement, and looked over... two females were inside the cup, and two were rolling it. I mean, actually pushing it so it rolled across the bottom of the tank at a pretty steady pace. I could swear they were doing it intentionally!

Every once in a while, I will see a female betta in a large community tank jump during feeding time and actually stick to the glass above the water. Well, one time a small female jumped and ended up stuck to the glass upside down. The look on her face was priceless.

I had a male VT that hated the ends of pencils and pens... he would flare like crazy at it and follow it all over the place if you moved it. He flared at nothing else, including your fingertip... just the end of a pencil or pen. (I had no other males at the time and never tried a mirror)

This one has more to do with me than the fish, but one late night in my dorm room, I was on my computer and my roommate was sleeping so the lights were off. I went to do something to a smallish container that had a female betta in it, and knocked it off the shelf. Water and gravel went everywhere! I turned on the desk light and started searching frantically for the fish, but she wasn't on the floor or the desk. Finally, just for the heck of it, I decided to check a glass that was sitting on the desk. Sure enough, there was about an inch of tank water in it and she was swimming around happily.

Well, I'm still new to fish business, but my one and only fish, Sweeney, is just full of character. I recently got a video of him doing God knows what (I'd say "intimidating" but I could be wrong) to my kitty, who was watching him.

Talk about a 'David & Goliath' tale! The vid was way cute! My little girl named Blue will swim after my fingertip when I dip it in her tank. She'll do circles and figure eights and always want to hang out by my figure. She's so sweet!

I used to have a blue betta years ago, one of my first, and he used to sleep under his bridge. When I got up in the morning I used to peer at him, and he ALWAYS rushed over and flared at me, and then swam away as if to say "that showed her who the boss is!" I knew he was old when he started sleeping on top of his bridge and not telling me off.

Mine is when they grab the cory's wafers and swim round and round thinking what the hell do i do now i've got it!!

lol...my lil' guy just makes me laugh whenever i see him cos he dances when he sees me, he swims frantically when he sees anyone, but apparently only dances for me...and who says fish are stupid!

I must be doing something wrong. My bettas do nothing, they are the most boring fish I've ever had. They seem to figure that being pretty is enough, they don't need to do anything else.

Mine makes me laugh when he decides to be a tart....lol, he'll puff his fins up, and strut up and down the front of his 55 litre mansion....lol......also sometimes i'll go over and he'll flare at me, little bugger :p

Have to share this with you as its just happened. I have a small 1 gal tank that i have a boy in i am treating for fin rot, in with him he has an IAL and thats it. I went over to feed him and he was gone no where to be seen...i looked all arounf the tank, even tho it has a lid thet hewould never get out of, and nothin. I looked bach at the tank to see his little face peering at me from the top of the IAL, he had some how shimmied his body onto the tinyest hollow and was happily watchin me panic, i have a pic on my cam, i will try and load it for you tomorrow. Sorry had to share made me laugh to see his little face peering at me. Oh and he got himself free when i put food in so he is ok

I have to share this story again. I've shared it before but, whenever I think about it it always makes me smile.

My betta Raj (RIP) LOVED moss balls. I only had a couple for a short period of time. They ended up dieing for some reason dernit.
Well anywho! He absolutely loved them.
He would stare them down, then all of a sudden, he'd ATTACK! Taking off a small chunk. He'd spit out the chunk and watch as it floated down to the gravel. Then he'd go right back to eyeballing the moss balls as if to say "MMHMM.. see what I did there? GET SOME!" lol
Wash, Rinse, and Repeat. He would do this for a while until he tired himself out and would then rest either on them or beside them.
