I got another betta!!  And he isn't pink.... someone needs to teach me how to take a picture of him so he doesn't look pink!  HAHA  My daughter named him Riley after a horse she rode on her birthday.

Riley is nothing like Jimmy at all.  Riley is not full grown yet, about 3/4 the size that Jimmy had been.  Riley is a blue pearl betta... and I swear he is light blue... well... he seems to have a pearl blue sheen but also be transparent in some light and thus keeps looks pretty much pink in my pictures!

He is full of personality... and I am thinking possibly a bit daft... unless that is him lacking a bit of "maturity" yet...  Riley hates.... shadows on the wall... in fact... I just turned the light on about 10 minutes ago and he is still flaring up every time he turns around and sees the shadows again.  I ended up getting him yesterday and he was more angry about moving shadows... and seriously, had such a big kniption about shadows after I turned his tank light off at bedtime that I worried he was developing whitespot as he flared and bounced off things and everything.  I was prepared to ask on the board this morning if Interpet Whitespot is safe to use for treatment.... but not a spot in sight and he isn't doing it anymore... so hopefully that isn't in the making...  (is that medicine good if it does ever manifest?)

And... what post would be complete without a few pictures?

I tried to catch him flaring at the shadow but he began to relax as soon as I came along with the camera... so... most of it is gone by the time I snapped this.

Found a snail.

I swear I'm not pink despite how it looks....

Oh, and PS..... I'm going to soak all his food just in case and no blood worms at all so far.

And.... he is mad at the shadows again because someone walked by a bit ago.  So you suppose I will have to work that out (maybe put a lamp in the corner so he doesn't see them) or will he get over it?  It hasn't been long so not enough time to adjust I'm sure...

I think Riley is gorgeous!
He'll eventually adjust to his new surroundings and get used to the shadows - it's all new to him at the moment. He'll know when you are coming to feed him and do a little dance for you when he's settled in.

Well done you... and lucky Riley to have a good home.

happy to see more ;)
Wishing you all the best with him.  I sometimes soak the food in Seachem Garlic Guard, they love that.

I might swipe my daughter's Littlest Pet Shop dog bowl and use that as his bowl for food soaking.  LOL

I feel quite nervous that he might up and die as well.  I have the betta pellets now, which arrived the day after Jimmy died! So portioning those out better and pre-soaked.  I do wonder if he is still hungry later though as last night he started pulling off bits of my cabomba... not eating them though.  I hope he won't be a menace to that plant as I really like it!
