:-( :-( :-( came back after 2 weeks to find four of fish dead and all moudly    such a horrible sight..but wot can u do..... any tips for the next time i go away?

lost my little female betta, 2 mollies, and my lovely (quite rare apparently) garra....one of my faves..... :/

2 weeks? did you not have anyone looking in on them? thats a long time to leave your tanks unsupervised...

shame to hear of your loss; better luck next time.

yea sum1 came in to feed them but they must have died near the end....

Take them with you. They are your children you know.
of course I'm joking...
LOL

Lucky for me, I know a couple of people who are here pretty fish savvy and I'd have them checking on my fish every day with several sheets of instructions typed up ahead of time :)

If your tank isn't over-stocked, you should be able to leave portions of food for someone to feed your fish the correct amount daily without worrying about further maintainance. Just do a water change as soon as you get back and the night before you leave. The fish should be fine if they are not sick.

i added those fish block feeder things but still got sum1 to come in to give them real food, 1 tank was a bit of a mess..cleaned it all up now guess im gunna have to find sum1 whose good at looking after fish or just not go away lol!!!

Im gonna have a problem when i go to school. Im gonna have to figure out somethin to do with the fish.

there we are that is why

those feeder blocks are made up of mostly ash and chalk
that has reaised your pH, kH,gH and possibly throw off you
O2 levels :/

I hope to one day see those blocks banned from sale

sorry for you losses Bod :rip: little fishes

I agree with wolf. Its a shame ppl bare alowed too sell those things.

Try those weekly medicine tablet holders next time. Add the portion of food you want feed to your fish too each seperate day. Works a charm!

cheers...i didnt buy them...my dad did i said they were wrong, but i didnt know they altered your water like that!....hmmmmm wont be using them again!

the auto feeders tha can be set to drop in the correct amount of food at programmed intervals look best! i think they are about £15

ive heard about them but when u have more than one tank its starts getting a bit pricey.....

Does any one know where to get the automated fish feeders that drop the food down?

Im off to greece for 2 weeks and dont like the idea of everyone being in and out of our bedroom every day!!!
