hello guys and girls.

i have a 90 gallon tank, and i have a rope fish
now the problem is, is that my tank has a sealed closed lid, but has an opening in the back of the top of the tank
and it has the glass supports inside the top with a gap in one corner, to fit in the heater and the filter outlet.
in this gap because of the heater i cant think of anything to place ther to cover the gap.
and my rope fish keeps escaping and sliding its way across the living room floor while im watching the tv lol.
but because they have lungs like humans they can breath our air so they can survive for a while outside the tank, but its the hairs and the dust that defeats them...how can i keep him in the tank without him escaping?

ok, i could try this i soppose, but would the heater not burn it or anything?

Is it a clip on heater? Actually it doesn't matter, the heating element would have to be touching the sponge to cause any problems.

yes its a clip on heater, its just i dont wanna do anything that could be a fire risk.
aint worth a burnt down house over a fish lol.
but if it could work, i see no reason not to try it...
the amount of times ive opened my tank lid to feed my fish and the rope fish is up on the glass supports just sitting there...makes me laugh...its almost as if it hates the water, it seems to spend more time out the water than it does inside.
also, what else will these things eat?...i feed mine on both live and frozen bloodworm...
it seems to ignore brineshrimp and daphnia.

I fed mine anything meaty. Frozen krill, shrimp cut into bite size pieces, earthworms, mealworms, sinking pellets of different types. It takes time for them a bit to get used to new foods but given time will eat just about anything.
