where fishies fly , where lizards eat lions :hyper: This is gonna be my next vacation , I hope i comeback alive :hyper:

No - threre's no waiting list to go to the Glapagos ;) you can go at any time. But if you do go, I can highly recommend taking at least 10 days to 2 weeks to see the rest of Ecuador as well :good:

Edit: but yes - it's mucho expensive. In relative terms of course.

I was in Ecuador in January - high season :) and there are boats to jump on all the time. They do limit the numbers, but it's really not that hard to get on a boat. It is costly though and the only reason why I didn't add it onto my Ecuador trip. But once I was there, there were several companies with spaces available if I chose to join.

Thanks thegnu. Unfortunately not as far down to the Amazon - but two of the major tributaries. But I can tell you it certainly felt like I was in it! If anyone's interested, here are some of the photos from that trip - and more here - so if anyone's going to the Galapagos, I'd say it would be a crying shame not to take just a little more time out to go and see the rest (or some of) Ecuador. Too many people completely oversee it - only flying into Quito to fly straight out and jump on a boat. I can't say enough about this truly amazing country & people. Heart-warming and stunning to say the least :good:

cool! my uncle gives tours there! hes been all over the place. been to Costa Rica 3 dozen times! Can I come with u?

Bloo, do you have any pics of the fish?
No, this wasn't really that kind of trip - so i didn't go wading through the murky waters I'm afraid.
When I go to Brazil, I'll try to organise a fishing expedition! but that's a trip for another time :)

I was too skint when I got to ecuador to get to the galapagos, couldn't really afford it on a backpackers budget but I recall it was around 500USD for a few days on a boat doing various tours of the islands.

Bloo did you get an opportunity to visit Sth of Quito (Cotopaxi and Cuenca),

Lol, I was wondering the same thing  . Very very nice pics bloo, I need to get me a DSLR, but I'm 15 so that's probably not going to happen any time soon, I've been looking at the Samsung GX-1L recently though.
When are you going to Brazil?! :hyper: . I trust you'll take pictures?

Yes, saw New Year's in at Cuenca - stunning city and had a fab time :good:
Also did a day hike in the Cajas National Park - the altitude (4,000m +) nearly killed me but it as stunning
But no - didn't do Cotopaxi - that's just madness  I love hiking and mountaineering - but I also love my life!

Yeah - DSLR's are expensive - and I've wanted one for ages. But had to save up for a long long time.
But they're worth it! The step up from a standard digicam is just amazing.

Brazil & Peru (with a fishy expedition thown in) will hopefully be on next year's agenda - it's hopefully Bhutan later this year :good:
