As I continue to finally buy some new bits for my fish this weekend (Magnum 8 powerhead £106; Blagdon Powersafe 5 swtch box £39; Rena Smartheater 300w £23; connector kit for Rena £7; still need to get some Eheim media for 2078 and decide on either Fluval FX5 £137 or two APS 2000EF £150 for the 5x2x2), I'm wondering about buying this piece of kit that will let me change/monitor settings on the 2078, which will be coming back upstairs into the Rio240 once it has seeded the new 540l filter.

I'd love to hear from anyone who has bought this "toy" and actually found it useful! I've discovered this morning that it reports the current flow rate, which could be rather handy to know, when it comes to "gunk" blockages slowing down the turnover.

sounds like a item thats not essential to me. you can normally tell when your filters flow slows down and its time for a good clean out. im sure it will look nice and modern but really not needed...

all i can say is they pay way too much at the Royal Mail

i'm with Matt on this one.

I think you are both probably right and its just the "new gadget" ego trying to break out!

Considering the 2078 will be seeding the new undecided long term filtration for the 540, this impulse buy can at least wait for further Royal Mail wages ;)

Thanks, Steve
