Right...
I am going to have to do something about my air pump pronto.
I have only a 27 Uk litre tank.. im pretty certain after all this time that the current is WAY too strong.

The air pump is just a bog standard out side air pump with a air stone Tetra TEC
There isnt anything that i can turn it down with

There is nothing else in the tank that could of ripped it that far down.. its SO upsetting to see. the fish himself is acting like nothigns wrong...
Im not going to switch the air pump on now until i get down to my LFS
what can i do?
getting a new tank isnt an option because its fairly new itself (4 monthsish)
and i dont want to move all of the things and waste a tank.

Is there anything i can do about the high current?!?!
The split definately wasnt there this morning i always monitor my fish

I'd assume the guppys tail will repair itself overtime (i could be wrong here though).

As for the air pump, I bought two in-line valves which attach toe the air hosue itself and allow you to increase/decrase the amount of air. They were only about a quid for the pair too.

In line valves :S
i hope that might help
would oyu then buy a sir stone to attach them to
at the moment i have just a air stone
would a smaller air stone work?

Im confused

Take a ty wrap or piece of wire, kink the airline coming from the pump to the airstone and fold it over, by experimenting you can regulate the amount of air going through till you can get a proper valve. Once you have what you want use ty wrap or wire to hold it, it will not cause any damage to the airpump.

Don't worry yourself too much. Remember that accidents happen and it's only a fish! Sounds like he's in good hands and will be fine.

hes my favourite. its been a complete rocky ride form start to finish and a cost of around 180 - 200 Pounds (thats alot compared to what i get)
Anything for my fishes

I worry when i see that huge split.
Its a fact i need to do something about the ferrocious air pump
Ill try 2 get valves tomoroow

I wouldn't want to put back pressure on the diaphrams of the pump by kinking the pipe, but you can get gang valves. They are designed so you can have 1 pump feed two ornaments for example. However it is always recommended that if you have 2 ornaments to feed you would get a 3 or 4 way gang valve.
Basically you use the one valve not connected to anything to bleed off the spare air and reduce the pressure being fed to the ornaments / airstones.

Again usually only a couple of quid.

Something like this

Thank you so much

i will try anything at the moment
little guppies and tetras only need a smooth amoutn of bubbles
Im sure its the culprit

The effect of gagging the pipe would be minimal on the pump, as moll said it was only a temporary measure until a regulating valve could be purchased.

I'll take your word for it that it wouldn't have much affect on the pump as I have nothing to prove otherwise, it just doesn't seem like a very healthy thing to do to a pump to me :)
