Hi,

I recently bought 3 blue gouramis, they were introduced to their tank (30g) yesterday and today (first time the lights have been on) they hide from me everytime there is any movement next to the tank.

As soon as there is no-one around they swim around all happy as little larries.

Are there any methods of reducing their nervousness around me? Or will it just die over time and I should just be patient..?

Thanks,
Paul

you should be patient...i think soon enough they will learn that a big blobby human being near the tank means food and interact with u...mine come up to the top now when i do water changes and nimble on stuff that comes into the tank

Thought as much, they seem to get interested in me and then back off a little, one of them actually came up to the glass and started using his feeler to feel where my finger was - got a little spooked when I moved closer though!

I've had a gourami before, however he was donated to me when my dad shut down his tank - I think he was about 5 years old at the time, but he lasted another few more and was the most chilled fish in the world. I assumed these gouramis would follow suit, as I'm used to bullish fish - but I have been naive and just need to let them settle and get used to me.

Cheers,
Paul
