The Best Fish Ever

For me, it's the Senegal Bichir.

really?
then perhaps you should change your name :p

for me it is Carcharodon carcharias
for those that don't know that is the white shark or white pointer shark
or as Hollywood and the worlds' media insists on calling it the great white

For me it's Pimelodus blochii

I had one for 8 years when I first kept fish (40 years ago)

I sold it wjhen I left home

Fabulous fish and a real character

I'd love to find another one

Electric eel, definately the most interesting fish i've kept.

Half Banded Spiny Eel for me so far.
What makes the electric eel so interesting CFC, I hear they dont use their electric abbilitys in captivity...

The best choice so far by miles. I was going to trump it with a local yokel called Cetorhinus maximus (Basking shark), but I don`t know of any examples being kept in an aquarium. Therefore, to remain loyal, I am going for Esox lucius. I remember my brother catching a monster example in the Grand Union Canal several years ago.

Dave.

Maybe I should!
I also really like gobies it's just that all the Senegals I've kept have always had great personality.

Wow, You've kept one? I'm super-uber jealous. Anyone know if their banned in the U.S? What minimum tank do they need? Sorry for the questions, it's just that they're really cool.

Def

Black Ghost Knife.

Zoe :good:

Gonna have to second that. Out of all my fish my BGK is the most interesting.
I really like Black Ghosts, too, but I've never kept one in the hobby :(

i will always love my guppies,
i know it's not a fish but i love my bamboo shrimp he's such a character in my community tank

For me, it HAS to be Platys in my community tank as they have such charisma and great characters. Then, in my cichlid tank, it has to be labidochromis caeruleus (Yellow Labs), they are mental but sooooo cute! I can, and do watch them for hours! :hyper:

The way they search for food in the tank is interesting to watch, they have very poor eye sight so use their electrical capability to zone in on food items, the way they move is fantastic too.

And they certainly do use their electric abilities in captivity, mine electrocutes anything you put in the tank to see if its something it can eat

I still have one.

Minimum tank size really depends on how large it ends up growing, but be prepared to provide a tank for a 6 foot long fish if it reaches full size. Luckily in captivity most only reach 3-4 feet and as they are so flexible and mobile you can get away with keeping one in a tank with a 6x3 foot print.

Wow. Got any pictures of it?
I just looked at your profile and it said you have yours in a 55 gallon (48x12x20"), that's the size of tank I'm getting to try and breed Senegals!
Who knows, I have 1 55 now, I'll get another 55 sometime next week for the Senegals, then maybe I could get another 55 for an Electric Eel! :hyper: That alone will cost several hundred dollars to run 3 55 gallon tanks. It would be soooo cool. You wouldn't happen to know if they're illegal in the U.S., would you?
BTW, CFC, got any information on breeding Senegals that might come in handy?
Cheers,
GobyMaster

The 55 is just a temporary home, i'm having a 66x30x15" (about 120 gallons but with the foot print of a 200g) tank built for the eel soon which will hopefully be its permament home.

I see in your signature that you are thinking of getting a Liearius pictus for your new 100g, i really wouldnt recomend that as they grow to 2 feet in 18 months and need a tank that is at least 30" wide and 8 feet long to be able to move around properly.

Out of all the fish I have my BP(Blood parrot, or parrot fish), has the most personality. Although I really want a BGK.

Oh, I saw on a website that said they didn't get that big, my bad
Still, I might want to look into the electric eel, that's a really cool fish.
