the other day i was looking down from the water surface, behind a piece of driftwood. and two of my baby labs (they are probably about 1") were doing a little dance. circular, like one following the other following the other... pretty steady, staying in one spot, not violent, don't think either was nipping, they were just doing a little dance of sorts. they kept it up for around a minute solid maybe.

i was wondering if this behavior is indicative of a mating ritual. if so, i thought they were a little too young for this stuff just yet. if not, could they have just been playing? i haven't seen it repeated by them or any of the others. just that one time.

Most likely the were doing a dominance dance. IME as the juvies get larger they start working out their heirarchy among themselves. It could have also been a practice run for breeding, w/cichlids you never know.
