I've been desiring some javamoss for a long time now.

Just recently my LFS had some shipped in. They put it in the feeder goldfish tank.

Of course, all of the goldies were swarming it, to the point where it was just a mass of fish. I didn't get it.

Anyone else have any similar experiances?

I'm not sure i understand, why not get it if you wanted it? are you saying the fish ate it? or it was all torn up? As for me, I was looking around for java moss for my betta tanks and my community tank and pretty much gave up when noone carried it, or said they were all out. Seems like it goes like crazy when they do have it in stock and i have 5 shops around me. Anyways one day I had to get some food for my black ghost knife since he's a monster and eats as much as a fat little kid and I decided to look at the plants since I'm slowly adding more and more plants to my community tank as the budget allows and the tank was nearly empty of water, the girl said the tank crashed and she had to drain it. Anyways the tank was full of plants but they were hard to see what was what, so she said that if i wanted anything that she would give it to me for very little cost. I pointed out a couple bunches of stem plants that I have in my tank now and do quite well and two big java ferns, while she was moving her hands around the tank she pulled up this big ball of green mass and I said whats that? and she says "oh thats just java moss" and a big light bulb lit over my head. I said how much for the java moss and she said i'll give you this big ball for 2 bucks! so I took all the java moss she had, for just 6 bucks total, I also got the java ferns for 2 bucks and the bunch of stem plants for another 2 bucks. So i lucked out. Most of the java moss ended up in my betta tanks since it didnt seem to do as well in my community tank, i'm still wondering why since my community tank has more light, more water flow, more fish, and i fertalise regulary and have a co2 kit too, but regardless my betta's LOVE their java moss and sleep on it every night like you and me would use a bed

I haven't had any experiences like that :X , I didn't realize java moss was that hard to get a hold of. If you are willing to pay shipping I could send you some of my extra. I wouldn't be able to ship it till next week, because I have to go take the wonderful ACT test this Saterday, that I am dying to take for the second time  .

Your sig made me laugh TylerFerretLord

They were eating it and tangled up in it. Not to mention that the fish were mostly sick. You really needed to be their to apreciate how many goldfish were trying to get into the one clump of moss. Imagine a 50 gallon tank, with at least a hundred or two goldfish in it, half of them trying to get into the moss.

Disease maybe? If that was the case, you could have just did a quick bleach dip with it 1:30 ratio for like 10 seconds.
I'll do that next time, wish I had known.
