I'll make a small 20cm by 20cm tank put in some yellow sand as a substrate, add plenty of rocks, get this cheap mini power filter that I saw and house five bumblebee gobies in it.

Sounds like a really good plan, 'cept for the fact that bumblebee gobies are brackish and should be kept in a brackish tank to have a healthy long live. Keeping a tank that small brackish will be pretty much impossible. I say get at least a 15G to go brackish.

Also, I think 5 gobies might be pushing the limits a bit there. (I have 5 in a 15G) Think your best bet for a tank like that would be a betta. Sorry

ummm is it a joke?

i dont get it :dunno:

a square tank? And that's just like 2 gallons? A betta or a few ADF are going to be the only thing you can keep in there. You'd have problems maintaining a BW tank that small, to start. And you'd be overstocking by a lot, so I wouldn't do it if I were you...

20cm X 20cm is a little less than 0 gallons, You cant keep water in that, lets alone fish, try something with volume :p

But that aside, there are two species commonly reffered to as BBG's one is fresh water and one is light brackish water niether grow to much more than 1-1/4 inch.

I assumed a cube of 20 cm, so that's how I got my number....

That is very Small, But You Must Make Sure if you Have

Brackish Gobies = Broken Black Banding

Freshwater Gobies = Whole black banding.

If you Have broken Banding then they are Brackish and will Die.

True, there are a freshwater species of bumblebee goby as well, however this species tends to do better in slightly brackish water than freshwater as well ... so why bother calling it freshwater?

Don't alot of "freshwater" fish enjoy a little salt?

Besides, brackish also means distasteful. My fish are not rude! :D

Brackish reffers to the salt fltats that form after a high tide in scotland and england, Distastefull is a meaning that was picked up after the type of water was named. Thats like saying mountain means cold.
