I've been on a fishless cycling for weeks now. Ammonia eating bacteria is doing it's job. So is Nitrite eating bacteria. It's got like 300 ppm Nitrate already developed. I've come to the conclusion that I'll add a small supply of fish to the aquarium. But before that I'll do a 90% water change.

If it is cylcing 5ppm of ammonia to 0 and then cycling the nitrite to 0 within around 12 hours then its a good idea. If not then not so great an idea as you do not have a mature filter.

300ppm Nitrate is insanley high so either an over exageration or something is not quite right?

I took it to 3 LFS and I always got the same result.

What is the nitrate level in your tap water and how much ammonia have you been adding?

300 ppm for nitrate isn't shocking at the end of a fishless cycle. Assuming that ammonia and nitrite levels drop within a day, just do the 90-100% waterchange as suggested at the end of a fishless cycle and you'll be fine.

Have you used the "add and wait" method or the "add daily" method?

Add and wait. But I don't like to wait. Especially if I am at the end of the cycling process with a few snails in there!
