Moved On
Wanted to say thank you to everyone from Big Blue the Barbarian.
I had tanks and fish as a boy, but a lot has changed in thirty years. I don't know how most of my fish died of old age.
Anyway, inhereted a 10 gal. With electric blue and white gravel and tri-colored neon decorations, a bubblestone, and a three-spot gourami. She was supposed to be a dwarf.
Now still a 10 gal. Setting aside what I can for a 29 gal., but on a beans and rice, rice and beans budget. Also had to replace the heater. But the substrate is now sand, built a little riverbed of egg-rock, got a cluster of Moneywort, three Amazon Swords, and two Anubias nana. The swords are still small, but growing. Still waiting for some Anacharis and Cambomba. Lfs around me iffy. One, no plants, one remodeling, one won't go back to, and the indie is 90% marine.
Anyway, a skittish fish now while still hides if you enter the room to quickly, has become quite the personality.
So a hearty thank-you for the wealth of info here. Had a pair of dwarfs as a boy, but have learned a great deal about gouramis.
Also before everyone gets on to me about tank size and proper numbers I added a couple of rescued albino cories. As to tank size they are still quite small and they don't get in Big Blue's way. As for bioload, ammonia jumped to .25ppm for a couple of days but waterchanges helped, back to zero. I also think they are defective. They seem to each prefer a seperate side of the tank. They say hello along the river, but not really social otherwise. But Big Blue seems happy to have company.
Anyway thanks again for a much happier fish.
