I have a 4 inch jack dempsey and a 2.5 inch texas cichlid and they are showing breeding behavior. when the female reaches maturity, what is the possibility they will breed?

It's hard to say...... if they are showing breeding behavior then they might breed... it's hard for anyone here to say.... I've had fish pair up and not spawn.. so that's a possibility.

well I got too pairs of JD x texas.

one is male texas and female dempsey. the other is male dempsey female texas. which is more likely to spawn first or at all?

Both might not spawn.. if they aren't real pairs, just a male and female, they may never spawn... if they're already a pair they could spawn when they're more comfortable in the tank....

If it's just a male and female and not an already mated pair it's quite possible they will never spawn.

I wouldnt be so quick to rule it out. I have seen JD's with GT's and Blue acaras, and I myself had a female blue acara that spawned with an oscar. They spawned twice, but then the oscar went for the female oscar instead of the blue acara, and proceded to spawn another two times, and they're probably going to do it again soon.
