Guys,

Im currently running an Aqua One 1000 on my 120L tank and its getting old and leaky. Its a semi-planted tank with community fish.

Time for a replacement

Would you suggest a Tetratec 700 or Tetratec 1200? Id rather over-filtrate than under-filtrate, but don't want a whirlpool effect!

Thanks for any quidance

the ex700 WILL do 120l, i'm going to have one on 180l tank. The ex700 covers up to 250l (i think)

but for a while i did have an ex1200 on there which worked wonders. the ex1200 covers 200-500l

an ex700 is brill, but if you can afford to get a 1200, i would, and i did lol

Just set up an ex700 for my 90 ltr.Was worried about wirlpool but pointed the spraybar towards the back of my tank and its great. Would highly recommend the filter

Definitely the EX1200 in my opinion, I use one with a hydor koralia 1 circulation pump on my 120l planted tank to provide adequate flow. I also own an EX700 and no way would I trust it to provide the required flow for a planted tank without a secondary source of flow.

Can i ask why you need so much turnover of water in a planted tank Gav935?

Mainly for adequate distribution of nutrients and in my case, CO2 as well.

Thanks for the input guys,

I think that given my new lust for greenery, and the fact that my plants are flourishing im gonna go with an EX1200.

Ill probably use the funnel outlet, i have Neon Rainbows and they love to glide in the current waiting for food. The turnover will be great for my plants, and ill have to stuff it with media from my old filter to start with so extra space inside is needed.

Do these things have flow-reduction, or does it generally not work like many of the 'features' advertised these days?
