I Have a 190 Ltr tank with a mixed peacefull community stock.
I had 6 rummy noses and 6 neon tetras but i am now down to 2 of each.
I have had the fish for around 6 months with no problems untill now .
The symptoms are the fish lose there eyes. I have found 2 of them dead with a hole straight through there head.
The ones that I have left in my tank now 1 of them has only one eye.
The rest of the fish in the tank are healthy with no signs of disease.
I have tested the water and is in good condition
Nitrite=0
Nitrate=10
PH=7.5
Could anyone advise me what the problem could be

what is the full list of fish in the tank?
Do you have any algae eating loach or even something like a black ghost knife fish? These two examples can get into the habit of sucking the eyeballs off of other fish

The fish I have in my tank are:
Black ghost knife fish
Pleco
Golden sucking loach
Angel fish x 2
dwarf gourami x 2
clown loaches x 2
Mollies x 2
Discus fish x 2
silver sharks x 2
And also my one eyed neons

Well then my guess is most likely correct, either the loach or the BGK is eating their eyes,
What are you feeding the fish?
Also i'm afraid many of those fish are unsuitable tankmates and most will need a much larger tank as they grow

I have a variety of flake food suited for discus fish, freeze dried blood worm and freeze dried brine shrimp and pellets and algae wafers.

From the list i'm now guessing it is the BGK that is doing it, simply because it is hungry,
Mine takes a mixture of large and small pellets, frozen bloodworms, diced prawns, dried mealworms, and the odd small pieces of fish and chicken

Thanks for the advice I will invest in some more varieties of suitable food for the BGK :good:
