I have a 75 Gallon that had 10 Penguin Tetras, 10 Blue Tetras and 10 Yoyo Loaches

Currently have 9 Penguin Tetras, 7 Blue Tetras and 10 Yoyo’s

Current parameters are

PH 7
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate about 20
Temp 76

I have soft water

I feed a mixture of Flake, Pellet, Frozen Bloodworms and Brine Shrimp. I don’t feed Thursday and Sunday. Frozen food is fed once a week on Fridays. The other food is alternated the other 4 days.

50% Water changes typically happen once a week… sometimes up to 10 days

The tank has been stocked like this for about year and half and I haven’t added any other livestock. Plants have been added over the months.

During the last 6 months I have lost 3 Blue Tetras and 1 Penguin Tetra (2 days ago)

The ones that have died have slowly bloated up over about 2 weeks and then they pass away. The 4 deaths have been spread out over 6 or so months but not at the same time. 1 will die then a couple months later another will die and so on. Bloated stomach is the only symptom that seems to show.

If they bloat with raised scales, then the issue is kidney failure. If it's a swollen gut then the food choices need added roughage. But you describe a well run tank that isn't overstocked or under cared for. It sounds fine to me.

I expect you are facing fish health issues you bought with them, after their experience on the farm and especially in shipping.

Thanks for the reply

There didn’t seem to be any raised scales on their bodies before they died.

Can you elaborate on some of the other foods I could be feeding? What kind of veggies? Fresh? No skin? Chopped up?

Thanks

If you're using prepared foods, just try for a slightly higher fibre content in general.
