Tetra With Nasty Infection

hi folks

i have a tetra (forget its name...arrow tetra maybe) with a nasty looking infection.

i thought i saw something under the skin on his body a while back but it never came to anything. it looked like a bloodclot around the spine area mid way down.

now he has what looks like a white eruption of fluffy fungus coming from exactly the same area. he is listing to one side and it has made him bend his body as if he is going round a corner.

im thinking of putting him down as it looks fairly terminal and has come on very quickly.

all other fish seem fine and we have had new additions recently both of which also seem fine.

any ideas?

would u be able to get a pic i tryed looking for the arrow tetra googled it and theres no such thing. if u can't get a pic maybe describe what it looks like e.g colours,size

if its a neon it could be the neon tera disease

H septicemia fungus can grow on dead tissue.
Septicemia hard to cure once it has progressed.
Can you issolate the fish as the bacteria from the fish can enter the tank.
I would add a bacterial med to the tank.

i looked on wiki until i found it and it appears to be a pristella tetra although that definately wasnt what it said on the sellers tank....doesnt matter i suppose

ill get a pic of the infection tomorrow if he survives that long. i have no way to isolate that fish from the rest which is why im ready to put him down to save the rest if need be.

Is does spread from fish to fish i've had it and lost a few fish through one ill one.
To be honest if its a big patch and its progressed the treatment might be to late.
Does he look weak.

he doesnt look great. he has to adjust his vertical plane every second and the infection has twisted his body.

sadly im thinking he has had it.

come morning i think im going to have to put him in the freezer

Is his spine bent then.

as the infection seems to be on his spine im guessing thats whats making him bend his body.

you need to quarintine that fish immediatly.

ive no spare tank so ill just have to put it down.
