Hi,
My Tank is the Jewul 125 with the usual jewel internal filter....I have Harlequins,Zebra, Endlers and albino Catfish...in total 23...I will shortly be changing over to real plants and removing the fakes.(Using a Co2 kit)..I wish to increase the filtration Using a external canister..For 2 reasons...Firstly should the jewell pack up will have no backup .. and secondly should i buy a bigger tank then having a extra filter will be a great help....Am inclined to go for the Tetra Tex Ex 700..or the Eheim.......2 Questions......Will the wee fish i have be sucked into the intake ( Maybe a fine grid type of thing will help here?) Second ..will the spray bar be too strong for them and throw them around all over the tank... Regards Zac

tetratec, they represent great value for money and really do what it says on the tin, the back up from tetratec is also second to none

if u are worried about the filter intake you can cover it with stockings or sponge :)

spray bar can be angled upwards towards the water or across/down ( obviously) so you can get the flow just right, but on a 125 its about perfect :)

EDIT to correct my lack of coffee spelling :D

If it's your first canister, stick to the Tetratec, or an Eheim Pro II or non-electronic Pro III, as they are easier to work than Eheim Classics. Rena's are OK too, but a little more fiddly to prime...

All the best

i've got the exact tank and filter, it works really well, i wouldn't buy anything else for it :), the spray bar wont be to strong and if it is you can control the flow any way and as Shelagh has said, rubber band + stocking for the intake if you're worried.

Thanks for replies...Now to decide...Regards Zac
