My bloodfin, who is my oldest fish, has a pretty nasty chunk out of his back, and it only seems to get bigger. I know the culprit, a silvertip tetra, but have no where to rehome him. I was just wondering if there was anything i could do for poor old roberto. Is there any antibacterial stuff or anything for his injury? or should i just let him go to the fish bowl in the sky

Any medication will only help prevent an infection and usually only temporarily. If it is getting bigger, it's probably because it is infected and the fish's immune system is not strong enough to fight that off.

By the sound of it, unless you sort out the stocking problem, the bloodfin will be abused in the long term which will eventually cause death. Whether you try to prevent it from dying is up to you… I would. Have you giving one of the species away to someone with an existing school of them?

Have you tried asking on the forum? On your local classifieds? Listing it/them on eBay for 1 p/c? You might want to add your location to your profile on here as well so that anyone else who may be in your area could potentially offer a home to it/them when they see this post.
