quite a while ago, I bought a dozen tiny tetras, that were supposed to be rainbows ( lacortei ) they were tiny, and as they grew, almost all turned out to be palmeri... there are 2-3 that don't seem to be palmeri... one appears to be a lapis ( Hyphessobrycon melanostichos ) ... this one is different, and may end up being a lacortei, as it matures... any guesses from these pictures??? it's still not mature, and has colored up significantly in the last month...

that's a good possibility... I have had kerri's before, and mine didn't have as much color in the fins, but looking at pictures on line, that looks like a good suggestion... this one is still juvenal, so I'll be keeping an eye on it, as it continues to mature...

buying this young group has been interesting ( trying to figure out what they all are ), but disappointing, as I wanted lacortei, and out of a dozen, I don't think I got even 1, of what they all were supposed to be, and I already had a hand full of palmeri in this tank, which has now turned into 15 or so...

I do find the palmeri interesting, as the males have blue eyes, and the females have green eyes... I was only able to get males previously , but there are several females in this group, as they mature, and get green eyes they have made my palmeri shoal much more interesting... they are at the same maturity as the fish pictured, from the body shape you can suspect they are females, but once the eye color comes in, you know for sure, and I have 2-3 right now with bright green eyes...
