One of our little tetras (I can't recall the variety -- sorry!) got stuck in the filter almost two weeks ago. We rescued him, but not before he lost a fin. He cannot control that side of his body now. He pretty much just rests on the bottom, laying on one side, but occasionally makes a strong effort and manages to wriggle and float for a bit, but for the most part, I would say he is paralyzed. He doesn't seem to be able to move his back fin very well either, although there are no obvious injuries to it.

We had pretty much taken him for a goner, but it's been almost two weeks, and he's still here. Is there any hope that he can regenerate the fin, or is he a lost cause? I have to admit I really admire his fighting spirit and I'm really becoming very attached to him. Thanks for any help.

:hi: to the forums firstly!!! :yahoo:

As for your tetra, it sounds like he may be paraylized. As for him regenerating the fin, will take a little, however should have started regenerating by now. If you could isolate him, I would. Also fill his isolation container only half full if you can that way this will cause less stress on him, when he trys to go up for food.
In the end though he does not sound good. He may be in more pain then it seems and keeping him alive may just be worse. :dunno:

Do you have other fish in the Tank with him? What kinds? Have you tried putting him in a Hospital tank to try, and Rest without being bothered so he can come back to health?
