another question
How often should I feed 7 tetras and how much. the flakes are kind of big so is it ok if i crunch them up.

yeah, crunch them up. All i have in my tank at the moment is 18 neons. I feed them flakes too. As a rule of thumb, each fish's stomach is about the same size as it's eye. Also, if they take longer than 2 minutes to eat it, you fed too much. Hope this helps.

I have various tetras. They don't eat as much as other fish do. At least, mine don't. I feed twice per day and yes, crush up the flakes. The rule of thumb is, indeed, that the stomach is the size of the eye. Feed accordingly. :good:

well i just put them in the tank so it took them a little longer to eat because they weren't going to the top of the tank and had to wait for the food to float down. so would u say for about 7 tetras fed about 4 crunched flakes twice a day or more?

depens on their size but sounds about right to me.

If you just added the tetras to your tank today, don't be surprised if they don't eat. They have to figure out their social hierarchy and they are slightly stressed. When you feed them tomorrow, just toss in a very little bit of food at first, to see if they're interested. They won't starve if they don't get fed a time or two, trust me. :good:

mine also eat dried(fried) bloodworms and flakefood. some times you don't have to crunch them up but its just easy for them to eat it
