my glowlight lost both eyes about 2 weeks ago. and today 1 of my neons have 1 eye missing.. can this be fixed so no more eyes go missing or do i have a prob and all my fish will get it
help please......

Hi petkelly :)

Some aggressive fish will peck at the eyes of others. What kind of fish do you have in the tank?

Have you noticed any other problems lately?

i have 8 neons 8 glowlights 3 corys 4 guppys 2 rummynose 3 glass cats 2 clown loach 3 zebra loach and a few other tetra..
all has been fine but yesterday lost my red fin shark old age i thought but no marks ect
all ammo is good nitrate is good ect very stable 3and a half foot tank. with no probs....

How many gallons is the tank then.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
Did you notice anything odd about the fish eyes before he lost them, like swelling or bulging out.
Any aggression in the tank.
Some types of fish are know for sucking eyes out like bottom dwellers.

hi not sure on gallons but tank is 3ft4x16x16 thats without the lid. all the fish i have in the tank i have never had a problem with till now. no aggression no rubbing ect. all ammonia nitrate and ph are normal as did a test again just to be sure.no eye bulging ect. does this sound like a infection of some kind ? as not sure just baffling. my glowlight now swims in circles and has changed colour due to not feeding i think.. my neon with 1 eye sees me and comes to the front of the tank. it just seems unfair as i have worked so hard to keep them all in good health...

Your tanks overstocked with the clown loaches. How big are they as they grow bigger need 90 gallon tanks.

When fish lose there eyes they can swim on there sides.
Swimming in circles can be many things from the fish is dying, internal parasites that have affected the brain, swim bladder, bad water quality.
Being pale is stress or desease.
I would be pale if I lost both my eyes.
Sounds like a fish could of sucked his eyes out, but which one I don't know.

Did these eyes go missing whilst the red tailed shark was still alive?

If so, my bet is on him being the culprit. As soon as I read your post, before knowing what fish you had, I was thinking "I wonder if there's a shark in that tank!"

You may not have seen the aggression yourself, but Red Tailed Black Sharks (RTBS) are very territorial and aggressive as they grow. How big was he? He could have been attacking when the lights went out...
