Hi,i have tetra complete plant substrate under my gravel,do i need to add additional ferterlizer or is that tetra stuff enough nutriants as i dont want to over feed,Oh and also i recently got three onion plants how can i tell if they are dwarfs although they have grown alot in the short time and look a lush green, and my clowns dont touch them horray.

This tetra plant substrate does nothing in my opinion, and it can be annoying when trying to vac the gravel

did you not cap it with another substrate?

I also have no experience with the terta substrate, i use the JBL one and they do recommend capping as it would just be a cloudy mess when water changing.

MUST go under sand or under gravel as do most nutrient rich substrates. This is clearly stated in the instructions (or at least was the last time I used it.)

There are a few substrates that don't require a 'cap' but not that many.

When I used it I had no problems and it worked fine. 'does what it says on the tin'.

I know this if u read my post i do say its under my gravel,as it said in instruction, yes its still there.

dependent on the setup (Co2?, lighting levels) then it may need macros (NPK) as tetra complete is basically a micro nutrient source meaning that it contains the trace elements but not N & P

i have no co2 as i know nothing about it,the lights are 2 x juwel high lite t5 t8 whatever they are, most plants flurishing but i had an amazonian mother plant that was growing mad it kept hitting the water surface which was 60 cm tall but one day it just stoped growing and died!could av been my clowns

If your fish load is on the medium to heavy side then you should be able to get away without adding macros.
