Ive had my tank about three weeks now , which is currently going through fishless cycle...
I havent touched at at all, so i decided to do a test..

PH- 7.6
Nitrate - 3.0
Nitrite - 0
Ammonia - 0

What do you think?

Sorry to tell you this but your tank has not cycled one bit. Try reading the pinned topic on fishless cycling. Your basicaly will be starting from scratch.

Not that he will be starting from scratch...he hasn't even started!!!

Leaving a kettle with water in it wont spontaneously give you a hot cup of coffee...you need to get the power going and the ingredients in there in order to get the coffee made.

For your tank you NEED to add in ammonia (either add in fish flakes which will decompose to give ammonia or buy a clean source of ammonia from your hardware store or you can alternatively add in a life fish). When fish pee and poo they excrete ammonia. Since they are confined to such small quarters these toxic chemicals need to be gotten rid of and this is what the bacteria in your filter do. To get the bacteria to grow in the tank in the first place they need ammonia.

As suggested, read the cycling section. Its terrible that you have gone this far for nothing....feel sorry for ya if you were given this information to leave the tank alone by your local fish shop.

EDIT: Just a quick question man, How come you have not added in anything into your tank, I've just looked over some of your previous posts coz I found it unbelievable that someone with 100+ posts didn't know about adding in Ammonia and sure enough you already know about adding in ammonia. So how come you dont add it in and get the cycle started?

The readings you supplied would tell me that your tank is cycled BUT since you have not added in ammonia it simply means that your tap water has nitrates and contains zero ammonia and nitrites. Once you add in the ammonia you will see a rise in ammonia, depending on how much you add in and eventually a reduction in ammonia and a rise in Nitrites and finally a reduction in nitrites and a rise in nitrates until both ammonia and nitrites read Zero after about 6 to 12 hours of adding in about 6ppm of Ammonia while the nitrates will increase until you do a water change to reduce them. All this should take you 6 weeks maximum. Unfortunately you have already wasted 3 weeks but thats what learning is all about I guess! :)

I've not touched my tank for a reason, I go holiday soon so im gunna wait till i get back before start a cycle going! I know the basics of fishless cycle , but just thought as my API test kit has just arrived a thought id give it a go and just wondered what the results would be ! So i didnt expect to have a cycle tank yet, thanks for everyones help anyways im sure ill be back , once ive started to add ammonia! :good:
