Has anybody tried this recently? I mixed up a couple of 500ml bottles tonight of NO3 and PO4 to see how spot on my test kits were needless to say I am now 2 kits down!
Using the solutions below I was able to find that my Nutrafin PO4 was spot on as far as blue liquid goes - Salifert test was out by 2ppm
API NO3 was close enough to measure by .5 - 1ppm and my prodac didn't even show any change.
I've been meaning to do this for some time and most folks round here most likely do this with new kits anyway but I thought I'd share my findings
Tank Volume 1ltr
No3 stock solution
0.75tsp + 500ml water = 1ml = 5.15ppm
4.08grams + 500ml water = 1ml = 5ppm
Po4 stock solution
0.75tsp + 500ml water = 1ml = 5.03ppm
3.58grams + 500ml water = 1ml = 5ppm
