Test Kit Results Are Confusing.

I think we are going to be okay...angels and the gouramis could live in either of our tanks so I could always shuffle them around if they get too aggressive. Lucky my husband doesn't mind eating peanut butter sandwichs for a month so I can buy all this fish stuff. Poor guy, my fish are eating better right now! :)
Thanks for the help!

ugh. I'm so frustrated. My test results are not what I want and I feel like throwing a fit to rival my 2 year old. :shout: :<

I have the same results as yesterday exactly. I'm having a hard time knowing when I should do a water change.

My ammonia was 1.0ppm again but that's the same level as my tap water, so a water change won't change the ammonia.

The nitrate is still 5.0ppm and nitrite at .25ppm

When should I do a water change? I was suckered into a fish in cycle so I've been extremely paranoid with giving them new water. Should I wait untill I see a change in the levels?

The only good news is that my fish seem to be doing wonderfully...they are very active and not gasping at the surface {thank goodness} They look so lively compared to when I first brought them home. I hope that alone is an indication the cycle is going well.

Things have probably changed since you posted this, but I would do a water change. You won't reduce the ammonia, but you still need to keep the nitrites as low as possible. The fact that you have nitrites in your tank is a good thing as it means that there are bacteria in your filter processing the ammonia, even if it's not as quickly as you would like.

Yes, had already done a change...been doing one everyday and now with the test kit, I'll do one whenever I need...everyday still if necessary. Sigh. Patience, patience. lol thanks

Just wondering what ammonia everyone uses in a fishless cycle? I am gathering all the little things I'll need for the 75g and that's the next on my list. I have no idea what ammonia to buy! Thanks
