I have a tank that at one point was cleaned with soap. I've washed it off with plain water since then, but if I fill it up with water, is there any way I can test the water for soap residue before I put fish in?

If there is any soap residue, would enough water changes during fishless cycling take care of it by dilution? (In the past, I've had to do a TON of water changes during cycling because of pH problems.) I know soap isn't good for the fish, so I want to be as sure as possible. Thanks!

Does your filter contain carbon? If so, add some fresh carbon and it should help to filter out any residual.

Thanks! I wouldn't have to worry about the filter itself trapping the soap and constantly reintroducing it? I wouldn't want to end up with a soapy filter!
