Hi Betta addicts,

I'm in a pickle. For the first time, i've seen a betta I really, REALLY want! Like I need him. I don't have a tank set up or anything, but he's amazing - a mustard gas twin ray crowntail. I've never seen such a special looking betta in my LFS, they usually just have blue and red VTs or CTs, and cambodian females. I'm so tempted, but already have 2 tanks running...

What do I do!?

Get another tank or divide up one you already have.....see how easy that was

well you obviously want him.. your asking betta addicts for advice!

just get him

look forward to the pics ;)

Just wanted to ask a related question if know one minds? If this happens and you don`t have a tank set up can you put it in to a tank as it cycles? I know normaly everyone would be screaming at the PC/ME right now, but as betta can live in very harsh waters would this be ok? If not what should you do?

@ Million - Obviously, BUY HIM! you can pic up a tank when you to go to get him :p or divide a current one'

@ Pixie - Yes you can, many members on this forum (including me with the 2 i just got) have had no problems with bettas in uncycled tanks, just be sure to keep an eye on your stats :good:

Lol asking if you should get a betta on betta forums :p . You're going to get a lot of "dont get him" responses

Seriously though... if you dont have the money or means to even give him a decent temporary home then dont do it. the initial temptation does subside after a while unless you are reallllly hooked on him.

On another note, i was wishy washy on whether i should get a betta that i loved at a LSF and slept on the idea. The next day i had to have him and went in to get him and he was gone :( (he was a true albino!). So if you gotta have him, think about how you would feel if he was gone. If you would be upset about it then go for it. Just be rational about it and make sure you can provide housing.

A lot of fish stores sell 1 gallon goldfish bowls for dirt cheap if you need a temp home. Anything is better than those cups! Not to make it easier for you to decide to get him or anything :shifty:

if he is a must have...a betta that is goign to be extreamly hard for you to find again with out a lot of money spent, I would get him and deal with water changes on a small tank while you upgrade or divide tanks.

I passed on a double ray blue marble ct juvi male, one that would have been a PERFECT match for one of my sisters bettas, and I am still kicking myself in the bum for that one.
