Hi,
I currently have a Betta in a 2 Gallon plastic tank whilst I wait for the post office to open so that I am able to pick up a divider that I ordered off eBay on Thursday. The post office isn't open on Sundays so I will not be able to collect the divder until tomorrow. He will be moved into a divided 60L tank next to another Betta. I think that the 2 Gallon tank he is in now is making him stressed as his fins have started to clamp. The tank is heated to 26 C and I do a 25% water change every day. The tank also has two silk plants for him to be able to hide in. I can't undrstand what is causing his fins to clamp and I'm getting really worried about him. He's only been in the 2 Gallon tank since Thursday.
I have a 18L storage box that I could put the heater in and add some silk plants just until I am able to get the divder tomorrow afternoon. Would this be suitable? If not, is there anything else you could suggest me to do?
Thanks in advance.

A clear plastic storage box is absolutely fine for a holding tank as long as it is food safe and has been cleaned well with warm water and a little white vinegar ( then rinsed very thoroughly )

If you also get a new terracotta plantpot, ( Wilkinsons sell them ) wash it in hot water, and then place it in the tub with his plants round it, he'll have a nice secure place to hide.

You can transfer the pot and plants to your tank when it's ready. If you do it carefully, you can break the pot down the centre, and give a half to each betta to hide in as a cave :good:

ok thanks for the help :) hopefully it won't stress him out moving him to the storage box and then 2 his new home in the 60L tomorrow. Will the box be ok without a lid? I've filled it just over half full?

It should be , but you can put cling film tightly over the top, then prick some holes in it for air. Air gets in, bettas does not get out.

Thanks for all you help, he's now in his new home, the 60L diveded tank. He looks very happy and his fins are no longer clamped. He's also got his lovely colours back :)
