Hello,

What temperture is your tank on?

As the weather has got hotter, my tank temp has reach 28/29 C. How hot can a fish take.

Has anyone got any ideas how to keep the tank cool in really hot sweaty weather? Does hot weather affect fish?

Thanks

I keep my fish at 25, and the local temp has gone up to 29. They seem to be doing fine, just watch out for lack of oxygen has higher temps reduce the amount of oxygen in the water.

I wondered the same thing two years ago. My tank got up to about 84-88°F even though I was putting in ice packs and dechlorinated ice cubes in all day long. I couldn't get the tempature down and all of my fish ended up dying. I think I lost about 20 fish that summer. :/ :-(

what is he ambiant room temprature?

if the ambiant room temprature is 20 - 25 deg then you can set up a power head to shoot water out of the tank and keep the cover of the tank off

if the ambiant temp is to high then you can maje a diy cooler.

to make a diy cooler put a hose under the floor of the house and pump water from the tank around the hose and back into the tank

if you can do this then that will keep the temp down

i wondered about this myself. I usually keep my tank at about 76 deg. at the moment its only risen by 2 deg and the fish still seem happy. we have a ceiling fan on all day which seems to help and the living room is generally shaded anyway so i'm hoping that will help. however, i was wondering if the the cold/freezing water in abottle would help if the temp does get higher??
