Ok, I have three tanks, two which have heaters. I have turned the temps all the way down to 72 degrees but I think the room temp is heating the water up. My tanks with heaters are 82 degrees and 80 degrees. The one without is at 78 degrees. Do you think it would be ok to turn the ones with heaters off? Like whats a good temp for bettas?

Thanks!

For a Betta, no less than 75F and I would stay under 80. I found 77 to be good for my Bettas. Without a heater the tanks are susceptible to temp fluctuations.

Hi
Some thermostats are notoriously inaccurate, although 10 degrees is a big difference. If your room is heating them to 80-82, it must be like a sauna in there

leave the heaters in, if the room warms up higher then the heater is set the heater will simply turn off and not heat any higher. leaving the heaters in makes sure that if the temp drops for whatever reason in the room the tanks wont drop sudenly.

So last night I decided to unplug the heaters to see if there was a temp fluation at all. Here are the stats:

82 -79 - heater unpluged
80- 77 -heater unpluged
78- 78 -no heater at all

I dont think having a heater right now makes a difference right now anyways. I will take stats again tonight and see if anything drops even further.

And yes, my room is a sauna!!
