definitely one of the smallest fish I've tried to raise... rhino otto's are right in the as well...
anyway I have a 10 gallon shrimp tank ( yellow neocardia ) that could use a live bearer... so a small challenge, even finding them in the little bag, was a challenge... I bought 4 and got 1 larger male, that colored up pretty much right out of the bag, and 3 smalls... supposed to be 2 pair... one small one last night was doing the drunken dance of death, but, as hard as they are to see, I saw the larger male along the back wall, and this small one, I can't really tell if it's male or female yet... hoping there is at least one more in there

sorry about the spotty glass had to do almost a full tank disassembly, to get my male super red pleco out of this tank, before adding the Teddies

the biggest ( male ) in the bag last night...

now that I have the tank actually ready for them, I may try to buy another couple pairs, when they are available again...

In general, the males will be smaller (about 1-1,5cm) than those females but I had late male specimens that grew up to 3,5cm. This is a size that a female normally reaches.

well I saw 3 of them tonight... can't believe they can sex them this small... 2 of them are only 1cm long... but going on their 2nd day, is a good sign... the yellow neocardia shrimp are like giant lobsters to them...

If you love the fish you can buy more for another tank, as insurance. But otherwise, if given good care, they'll be livebearers. They aren't easy like guppies, but they'll still build up numbers.

I haven't kept that species, but their relatives, yes. They have a way of growing on you - you really get to like them if you give them a chance. Tiny livebearers have character.
