my tap water ph reads at 9.3 which seems very high. i need to know what can i use to lower this ph for when i do water changes.

ideally i would like a ph close to 7

my lfs says its best not to change the ph. but at 9.3 i have no choice. is there any good products for this

thanks

9.3 seems very high, too high infact. What regional water board do you fall under.
is your test kit out of date
try a new test kit.

I also live in an area which the pH is above 9. It's probably the chalk in your water if you live near the coast. So you might wanna use/test rain water or distilled water you can colect from a dehumidifier.

Do not use water from a humidifier, there are a lot of by-products left over in the water collected, and most if not all humidifiers state the water is not fit for human consumption, so why would you put it in your tank.

darrene - I would double check test kits, or call your local water board to find out what they state the PH is. If it is that high, you might look into a reverse osmosis kit, or they also sell water softener kits specifically for aquarium use.
