i found myself a baragin Tap Water Ion-exchanger and will it be ok for my marine tank.
i know every says ro units.
but i dont want to install one

If I am thinking of the correct unit it will cost more in filter replacements for one years use than a new RO unit would cost you. IMHO if you cannot afford a RO/DI unit, you cannot afford to keep a marine tank.

Why not keep an eye on Fleabay for a RO Unit

I rememebr teh good old days when I used to buy my RO from my LFS (When he had any), I used to wait for ages until doing Water Changes & Top Ups were always a nightmare when my LFS had no RO ready

RO Unit - worth its weight in gold

crazyelece the reason that i am getting this second hand tap water ion exchange unit is to just get the tank full. then i can use my mates ro unit. for a £1 for 25L )he lives 10 miles away and dont want to go back and forth) because i dont want to pay £35 for a new membrane.
dont mean to be rude but dont tell me what i can't afford i have all the equipment needed just need to get this last bit
please dont be offened crazyelece but it is a pet hate being told what i can and cant do personality trate

I'm not rying to tell you what to do, I just never understand why people want to drop $1000 in tanks and equipment, $500 in livestock, Etc. but they don't want to spend $100 on a quality water source. There are always exceptions and I understand that. Can I ask why your "mate" is charging so much? Is water that expensive in the UK? Is it to help cover filter changes? If you guys have good tap water filters over there you could use that for the initial fill but from my experiences with our units and there prices the proper filters cost just as much as a RO unit. If you have the patience you can use regular tap water initially. You just may have some earlier, heavier algea blooms. But if after the first fill you continuously use RO afterward it will clear with time

dunno about the filter m8, but i wouldnt use tap ater ,as it cause alot of probs down the line.
best wait or local shop or ask ya m8 to fill it up
