Hi, this is just a general question since I'm looking at purchasing my 7th tank, to be 5th in use, and the one I'm looking at is a different style than I'm used to (sucker for tradition here).
My current tanks all sit on top of a cabinet, purpose built (i.e. that the tanks came with) with the entire unit fitting snuggly underneath to the exact length and width of the tank. However the one I'm after now, the Hagen Duo Deep 1000 tank, has a unit with the top matching the tank size, but with the main body of the unit which is short either side of the tank's full width, essentially leaving the top board (and the tank) with an overhang.
I.e. my current setups have stands like this:
The one I'm looking at has a stand with an overhang like this:
Is this safe? Can the unit still support the weight of the tank?
What a bizarre question for someone who isn't new to the hobby, I know, but the design of these new fangled tanks all seem to use units like this so it's new to me!
TIA!
