Hi

was wondering what would be good tankmates for very nippy tiger barbs? have a 22 gallon tank , four tiger barbs, two balloon mollies and one dwarf gourami, which we are probably going to rehome as he is being nipped and chased a lot,

thanks

Really need a few more details; is it a squarish 22g, or a longish 22g. Tiger Barbs are VERY active fish and needs lots of swimming space. I'd be tempted to tell you there's no room for any more TBs, as to reduce aggression towards anything else in the tank, you'd need a group of at least six or seven. This is where the small tank is a problem. 22g is probably too small for any active fish that needs a lot of swimming space, whether it's aggressive or not. If you don't have the space/dosh for a bigger tank, then you'll need to think about returning the TBs.

The best tank mates for Tiger Barbs are Tiger Barbs....they are probably one of the worst fin nippers ive ever seen in a tank. The best way to dull it down is get a large shoal

u could always mix it up and get some green tigers aswell altho they do look mouldy its better than havin all the same colour, OR give them away and get some new fish that actually enjoy a bit of peace

Or you could get some Albino tiger barbs to mix it up a bit. Now these fish look pretty! Thats if your LFS sell them.

hi guys T.Bs seemed to have settled down a lot less nippy over last couple days so fingers crossed.
