I know this topic is probably posted somewhere, but I'm kinda in a hurry. XD

What are suitable tankmates for a 55 gallon tank of platies and mollies?

You shouldn't be in a hurry. Adding fish is a big deal as far as getting compatible fish and making sure the bioload won't too much before the bacteria can keep up with it.

My favorite tankmates would be Panda Cories, but Cories (Corydora Catfish) of any kind will do. I also love to see Harlequinn Rasboras in the tank. Both fish school and should be kept in groups of at least four, but I would say even double that for the Rasboras. Guppies and Swordtails will work in the tank as well. There are a lot of fish that will work with Mollies and Platies. Avoid Tiger Barbs, freshwater sharks of all kinds, and Cichlids. Those are generalities, but it's best to steer clear of more aggressive fish like that.

Tetras are good tankmates. There are many different kinds to choose from.

Also bristlenose plecs. But basically anything that is peaceful, won't outgrow the tank and doesn't mind hard water.
