Fish Addict
Hello Everyone,
Ive been away from this site for a while but i desperately need your help with my communal 3ft tank. Over the last two weeks our fish have been disappearing and dieing. I know it sounds weird but one day my neon, female GBR and albino corydora were there and then the next day they werent. The following few days have presented us with a BNose Plec being found dead and over the last day ive watched my PK ive had for nearlly three yrs die
We moved house six months ago and that alone presented us with a challenge of moving four tanks. We did it successfully with no casualties for this tank. Currently left in the tank is the following: 2x Clown Loaches nearlly three yrs old, 1x BNose Plec nearly three yrs old and 1x GBR male who is nearlly a yr old.
My fiance tested the water the other night for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate etc and checked the ph but it all came back fine. No difference at all. We even tested it with a different kit and it came back the same. I cleaned the filter out the other night as a last resort to try and help if it was a bacteria but there are no signs at all. The PK was in perfect colour when he died today. No lifted scales or discolouring at all. He was just....dead. None of the surviving fish have any marks, they all seem to be eating fine. We did a big water change a couple of weeks ago and i vaccummed the gravel as i always do every two weeks and they were all fine. Im wondering if i should treat for an internal bacteria? I dont want to treat the four fish if it isnt neccessary but we dont want to lose any more of them. The GBR and Plec seem perfectly healthy.
Today the end symptoms of the PK were that he seemed to be bottom heavy where his tail would sink but there was no other signs at all. There fishy poo seems to be of normal. Its not white or stringy and the fish left are all in full colour.
Any ideas would be great as i really dont want to lose the rest of them! Ive even thought about down sizing the tank but then remember we have loaches in there lol. I just forget they are there because i never see them! I thought we may of had an ammonia spike or something but i was very confused when the readings were all normal. Not one spike in any of the tests. It looks so baron. We would like to get more fish but not till we figure out what is wrong. We had a wipe out in this tank over a yr ago but that was due to a sick fish we didnt spot when we put him in there.
Tank Details:
3ft established nearlly 3yrs. Very mature tank
Gravel bottom
26degrees Celcius
Silk plants
Bogwood
External filter
Air stone
Lighting 8hrs a day
