This may sound like a daft question, but we are in the middle of a drought over here, so here goes: what do people do with the dirty water from cleaning their tanks? I have been water the trees with it so far (assuming nothing will kill our trees!) but is it good for other plants (e.g. the tomatoes)? With the concentration of nitrates, I would assume it is but wondered if anyone knew.

It's good for all plants, I occasionally connect several hoses to my water change pump to water flowers, veggies, landscaping plants, you name it. Houseplants get nothing but tank water, since the tanks are closer than the sink.

Used tank water is an excellent souce of nutrition for houseplants and garden plants.

I agree, i often give left over water from my water changes to my house plants. I would be very wary of meds though, as many meds kill crustations and worms and things that would otherwise keep soil and plant ecosystems healthy.
