Tank Water Pink

I've never seen a snail in my tank with the clown loach, they do a good job.

It's possible, although the blood worms are from the same batch I've fed them before, I bought them about a month ago, so I would think unlikely.

I'll do some more thorough investigation this evening and update with more detail.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far

Checked a few other things tonight, PH and ammonia etc is normal. Couldn't find anything in the tank, I have a suspicion when I put the blood worm in a piece of the red metal film may have fell in with it? would explain the pink colour, but I can't find any in the tank :(

The foil should not do anything, unless your pH is under 6.0 or over 8.0, in which case it shouldn't do much anyway. You should still be careful to not drop it in the water.

Just try water changes until it goes..

Did a 50% change last night, the water is pinker again today! I have a over hanging LED light designed for a nano cube on it, clearly isnt waterproof, the screws and flexi bit have bits of rust on them that werent there the other day, could this be the cause? would have thought it would be a red ish colour instead of pink though?

Rust in non-soluble in water, are you sure the pink you describe is not actually tannins from wood?

Unlikely, but remove the LED light and do another large water change. If the pinkyness comes back, remove the decorations and try again. If is still comes back, start removing other things…

There is no wood in there, I'm going to take out the ornament I put in recently, see if that does anything. although it's been used many times before. The fish don't seem to be suffering.

Could it be something in the FX5? it's fairly new, the guy I got it from told me what media was in it but I didn't actually check for myself.

…you bought a new filter and didn't even open it? *facepalm*, go open it up and have a look for yourself.

Noooo he opened it up and showed me, I just didn't inspect it thoroughly. I found the problem, it was an old ornament I'd put in as a temporary home for my clown loach whilst I finished one I was working on.

It was difficult to tell in the water, but as soon as I took it out you could see where the paint had come off, not just red, the blues and whites and blacks too.

yeah, like pasta in hydrochloric acid - but the pasta is WAY more fun to watch
