The time has come where i want to upgrade to a larger tank! This the beast im looking into http://www.aqua-techuk.co.uk/aquariummain.htm Click curved tanks. Its the FT600 at the bottom of the page. Its a 359 litre tank where mine is a 140 litre. Now i dont have the room to run 2 tanks so whats the best way to swap the live stock over? I was thinking of using the original filter media and put it in the new filter system with approx 60-70% of the original water then slowly transfer the fish across, once all fish are in the new tank add the rest of the water from the old tank and then slowly add fresh water to fill the tank over a 5 day period. How does thin sound? Im not going to attempt anything right away as i want to get everything just right!

Also what type of internal filter size/heater would be best for a tank this size? I was looking at the Juwel range as the heater can be housed in the filter system.

Sounds good to me, if the old tanks got a bioweel i guess you could swap them over, putting in the old biowheels in the new filters, first treating the water to eliminate the chlorine, then letting it run for a few days. Which is basically what you said.

We had a tank emergency and had to transfer our fish to a new 55 gallon, they did fine but dont take my word for it, just because i got lucky doesnt mean you will.

Another thing you could try to is putting in a bunch of guppies, being a cheap fish to buy, also gold fish, there hardy and will most likely survive, not expensive, and can get those good bacteria going.

I dont have the room to run 2 tanks, so once the new one is built the filter media and 70% of the water will be transfered from my current tank, then slowly add the fish one by one, then the rest of the water. Let that run for a while then slowy add fresh water to top it up to the level over a few days.

Also would a 600 litre per hour filter system be enough for a 359 litre tank?
